Wilton F Ellis

February 21, 1931 ~ October 31, 2022 (age 91)

Wilton Ferrel Ellis age 91, died Monday, October 31, 2022, in the Columbus Regional Healthcare System, Whiteville, NC. He was the son of the late Selma James Ellis and the late Carrie Williams Ellis. Wilton is also predeceased by wife, Elwee; granddaughter Jennifer, and brothers J.D. Ellis, Woodrow Ellis, and Graham Ellis.

Wilton was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His immense love for others was shown through his quality time of telling of days gone by, riddles, and acts of kindness. He was well known for his flower nursery business that he ran for over 40 years. Quite often he enjoyed giving a flowering plant to the kids.

He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for decades in his church. Wilton lovingly called his Sunday school class, " my junior boys." He treated them to camp outs on the river and trips on the Fort Fisher ferry quiet often. His lasting influence on others will be felt for generations to come.

Wilton is survived by two sisters; Marie Merritt and Diane Smith; and a brother, Walter James Ellis. Also surviving are three children: Jeffery Ellis of Lumberton, NC; Carolyn Worthington of Cerro Gordo, NC; and Lisa (Andy) Turner of Fair Bluff, NC. He is also survived by grandchildren; Stephanie Jo, Matt, Jared, Benjamin, Shane, and Julia. Six great-grandchildren; Kaylee, Mia, McKie, Camden, Vivian, and Presley Lynn.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022 from 3PM to 3:45 PM in the Hinsons Crossroads Baptist Church.

Funeral services will follow at 4PM in the church sanctuary, with burial to follow in the Meares Cemetery, Fair Bluff, NC.
