Williams VFD Helps Toys for Tots

Members of the Williams Township Volunteer Fire Department were there to lend a hand to two organizations in Columbus County this week. The gentlemen helped to unload bicycles at the Believers Home Fellowship Church (BHFC) in Tabor City for Toys for Tots Columbus County branch for their annual bike donation drive.

"Every year for the last few years, Kathy Beck from Toys for Tots calls up our chief Mark Prince for us to go help them out. We enjoy doing it," said Assistant Chief Clyde Prince.

The bikes are loaded up into the Black's Tire and Auto box truck and driven to the building behind the church. The firefighters and the other volunteers get the cycles down and organize them by color, size, and age range.

The drive had an overwhelming show of support that resulted in over 300 of the push irons being donated this season. The cycles will go to children in need in the area for Christmas.

BHFC also serves as a food pantry for the county. They are open the last Tuesday of the month for the public and every third Tuesday for the disabled and the elderly from 1-5 p.m. each day. The church is located at 212 Faith Circle in Tabor City.
