Whipple to Speak at Reading Association Meeting
Updated: Jan 18
The Columbus Council of N.C. Reading Association (CCNCRA) will partner with the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Whiteville to host a very special guest on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 6:30 p.m. Children's author Annette Whipple will be speaking via Zoom about using curiosity to spark education in the minds of children.
"I love the opportunity to visit schools, libraries, and even private groups through workshops and assemblies. I also enjoy connecting online," said Whipple in her biography. "With interactive and engaging programs, I educate children on topics like writing, science, and history. I want others to know that "Facts are fun."
Whipple, a former teacher, has published twelve informational children's books including The Laura Ingalls Wilder Companion: A Chapter-by-Chapter Guide, Whooo Knew: The Truth about Owls, and The Story of the Wright Brothers.
The hybrid meeting will be held online remotely through Zoom and in person at the museum. The event is free, and both the public and other authors are encouraged to participate.
Snacks will be served to those who attend live, and folks who would like to join virtually can register online at Celebrating Curiosity with Non-Fiction featuring a zoom with Annette Whipple (Sponsored and hosted by CCNCRA and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville). The link will be sent Monday or Tuesday ahead of the meeting. The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Whiteville is located at 415 South Madison Street.
