Veteran's Memorial Park to Place Engraved Bricks

It's not too late to make the veteran in your family part of a very special fixture in Columbus County. The Veterans Memorial Park of America (VMPA) is placing an order for engraved bricks on Jan. 31. Anyone interested in ordering can go to the website at www.veteransparkofamerica.com before the final day to make your order.

The Freedom Circle at the park now has eight flag poles representing the United States, North Carolina, POW-MIA, Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and the Coast Guard. Park signs, sidewalks, five monuments for branches of service, seven smaller circles for future monuments, a paved parking lot, and a paved driveway and road into park have been installed. The Never Forget Garden and the Field of Flags were among the first projects the VMPA committee completed at the tract. Donations can also be made via the website, and sponsors are always welcome to join the cause.
