Two Donkeys Need Donations

Hope and Holly need help. The Cape Fear Equine Rescue (CFER) non-profit is asking for donations to care for two extremely emaciated mother and daughter donkeys, Hope and Holly. The request comes after the organization was contacted by Reagan Equine Veterinary Services in Wilmington to save the jennies after a health evaluation.

The youngest of the pair, Hope, is a two-year-old filly who has been hospitalized in critical condition. She is unable to stand given her level of starvation and has been given a body score of one.

Holly is her mom and has a body score of 3. She was more than willing to allow the rescue to catch her and bring her along. She will need basic care at this point and has been started on a feeding program.

CFER needs donations immediately attend to Hope. If she survives, she will have to go on a special feeding program, and both animals will need farrier and dental work.

Donations are tax deductible, and the organization accepts PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, FB Pay, or you can phone in payments directly to the vets. For more information about how you can help, call the CFER at 910.523.1002.
