Trunk or Treat Guide for Oct. 2022

As spooky season approaches, many churches, businesses, and organizations are holding harvest celebrations and trunk or treats. Columbus, Brunswick, Bladen, and surrounding counties are invited to send your Halloween events to Columbus County News for publication. There is no charge for this service.

The Grissettown-Longwood Fire Department will be hosting the District 31 Haunted Trail every weekend through Oct. 31. The trail opens at 7 p.m., and admission is $15 per person. The station is located at 758 Longwood Road in Ocean Isle Beach.

Autumn Care of Shallotte will be having a trunk or treat for the little ones on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 5-7 p.m. All kids are welcome, and the residents and staff will be in costume to pass out candy. Autumn Care is located at 237 Mulberry Street in Shallotte.


Palmyra Missionary Baptist Church will host a trunk or treat on Wednesday, Oct. 26, starting at 6 p.m. The organization will also be holding a fall festival on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 4-7 p.m. The festival will include games, a cake walk, food, and much more. The PMBC can be found at 12753 New Britton Highway in Whiteville.

Whiteville’s Fun Factory and Crossroads Church will be partnering to host a trunk or treat on Friday, Oct. 28, starting at 6 p.m. There will be pizza, games set up outside, and the facility’s bouncy houses will be open for children to enjoy. The factory is located at 42 Hill Plaza in Whiteville.

The town of Ocean Isle Beach and the Ocean Isle Beach Recreation Department will be partnering together to bring a fun filled fall celebration to the community on Friday, Oct. 28, from 5 - 6:30 p.m. or until the candy runs out. Town staff and residents will be around to pass out goodies. The event will be held at 11 East Second Street at the OIB park.

The Farmacy on Main in downtown Whiteville will be having a Halloween costume party for adults 21 and over from 7-10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28. There will be prizes handed out for best couple's costume and best individual costume. Gift certificates from local restaurants will be awarded. The business is located at 110 East Main Street.


The Bladenboro Beast Fest will be from Oct. 28-29. The activities begin Friday evening with live entertainment from the Autumn Tyde Band. Don't stay out too late because the celebration starts back up at 8 a.m. with a day full of events. There will be a trunk or treat for the kids, food and crafts vendors, a car and bike show, and much more. Sandy Plain Baptist Church will host a fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 5-8:30 p.m. The celebration will include food, games, a cake auction, and a Trunk or Treat. The church is located at 6824 Swamp Fox Highway East in Tabor City.

Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church’s trunk or treat will be on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 5-7 p.m. There will be food, games, fellowship and lots of candy. SHBC can be found 3111 Walter Todd Road in Clarendon.


The True Believers, Westside Alumni, and 3 Kings Foundation will be having a Halloween carnival on Oct. 29 from 5-9 p.m. Admission is free, and there will be free candy, food, drinks, games, and prizes. The carnival will be held at 650 West Smith Street in Chadbourn.

Gapway Baptist Church will also be having their trunk or treat on Saturday, Oct. 29. The event will start at 6 p.m. GBC is located at 939 Gapway Church Road in Tabor City.

Coleman’s Drive In will have their annual Spooktacular Halloween carnival on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 2-7 p.m. There will be games, s’mores, a cardboard castle, and a DJ spinning out tunes. There will be Trick or Treat Jenga and Halloween Bingo every 30 minutes. The restaurant is located at 101 Jernigan Street in Tabor City.


Facts of Life Church will host a trunk or treat on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 6-8 p.m. FLC can be found at 24678 Peacock Road in Tabor City.


Bristol Creek Missionary Baptist Church will be having a trunk or treat for the Dothan community. The event will take place from 4-6 p.m. at the church located at 5910 Dothan Road in Tabor City. There will be free candy, kids games and snacks.


St. James Missionary Baptist Church will host a fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. There will be games, a cake walk, sack race, corn hole, trunk or treat and more. 3245 Old North East Road in Lake Waccamaw.



Iron Hill Baptist Church will be holding a trunk or treat on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. There will be fun, food, and fellowship for folks of all ages. The church can be found at 22247 Peacock Road in Tabor City.


The Whiteville Juniorettes will be trick or treating for canned foods to hand out those in need in Columbus County on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. Folks who live in the areas of Timber Cove, Land-O-Lakes, Whites Crossing, Baldwin Woods, or Pecan Orchard can leave donation items at their front door for pick up. You can also message Laiken Edwards on the Whiteville Juniorettes Facebook page to let the organization know your are participating.


Western Prong Baptist Church will present a trunk or treat on Sunday, Oct. 30, at the old Sherwin Williams building in Whiteville. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., and the address is 821 South Madison Street. If you would like to volunteer to help out, text or call Melissa at 910.234.0988 or Mandy at 910.840.2154.

Lowes and the City of Whiteville are hosting Public Safety Day Saturday, Oct. 29, at the store. The fire and police departments will have equipment on hand for the kids to explore. There will also be a child safety seat clinic. The event is from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the store.

Southeastern Community College and the H.E.A.R.T.S. Foundation will be partnering together to host a community trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the SCC campus. There will be live music, costume and trunk contests, food, games and more. SCC is located at 4564 Chadbourn Highway in Whiteville.

The Town of Lake Waccamaw, the Boys and Girls Home of NC, and Columbus County Parks and Recreation will be joining together for the return of Safe Night for Kids on Monday, Oct. 31. This event is free for children of all ages to enjoy a worry-free night full of games and candy at the BGHNC’s arena from 6-8:30 p.m. The facility is located at the Exhibition Center on Bill Thompson Lane in Lake Waccamaw.

Fair Bluff Baptist Church will be having a trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m. There will be hotdogs, popcorn, cotton candy, inflatable bouncy houses, and lots of candy. FBBC can be found at 1205 Main Street in Fair Bluff.

The Whiteville Assembly of God will be presenting a trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, starting at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 110 East Wyche Street in Whiteville.


The First Baptist Church of Lake Waccamaw will hold their annual trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m. The church is located 300 Sam Potts Highway in Lake Waccamaw.

Glory Tabernacle Church will be hosting a trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, from 6:30-8 p.m. Special parking will be available for those coming to stay and enjoy the night. GTC can is located at 4513 Pleasant Plains Church Road in Whiteville.


The town of Chadbourn will have trick or treating on Monday, Oct. 31, from 5-8 p.m. Be sure to leave the front porch light on to let children know you are handing out candy.


Foundation Church in Elizabethtown will be partnering with local businesses to host Tent or Treat. Each organization will have a tent and table setup to hand out candy and goodies to kids. The evening will include bounce houses, snacks, jumping pads, and more. Admission is free. The church can be found at their new location right off of Highway 87 and Martin Luther King Drive in Elizabethtown.


Abundant Life Assembly of God will have their trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot. ALAG is located at 5384 James B. White Highway South in Whiteville.


Goshen Medical Center in Tabor City will be partnering with area businesses to host a community trunk or treat. The event will be held on Monday, Oct. 31, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The center's address is 270 US Highway 701.


The Acme Delco Riegelwood Fire Department will be having a trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The station is located at 100 John Riegel Road.


Whiteville PD will host a Halloween party for the community on Monday, Oct. 31, beginning at 6 p.m. at City Hall. The event will include food, games, hayrides, face painting, apple cider, and much more. The facility is located at 317 South Madison Street.


The Having Aunties In Reach organization will hold their annual trunk or treat in downtown Whiteville on Monday, Oct. 31, starting at 6 p.m. at 708 South Madison Street.


Premier Living and Rehab Center will be holding a tent style trunk or treat in the parking lot of the facility. The first 20 children will get free hotdogs from the B&B Barbeque food truck. There will be lots of candy, so stop by and see them at 106 Cameron Street in Lake Waccamaw.


The Ward Station Church of God will present their trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31. The fun begins at 6 p.m., and there will be free hotdogs and candy. This event is free to the public. The church is located at 5478 Rough and Ready Road in Chadbourn.
