Traffic Stop, Search Warrants Yield Drugs



Two suspects were jailed and a quantity of illegal narcotics seized after a vehicle stop and the execution of two search warrants Friday in Bladen County.

The Bladen Sheriff’s Office reported that drug agents and the Community Impact Team made a traffic stop at N.C. 211 and U.S. 701 in Clarkton that turtned up “a large quantity” of crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl. Deputies also hit two Elizabethtown properties at the same time. Both homes were on Peanut Plant Road, the BCSO said in a press release.

Deputies found cash, opioids, and cocaine in the two tareget properties.

Michael Lee Green, 52, of Elizabethtown was charged with two counts of trafficking opiates, maintaining a vehicle for drug activity, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver heroin, and drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $1.5 million.

Also arrested was Eric Nicholas Phillips, 39, of Pikeville, on charges of possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $25,000.

Additional charges are expected in the case, the BCSO said.
