Timothy Clyde Blackmon
August 6, 1943 ~ October 11, 2022 (age 79)
Timothy Clyde Blackmon, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at Columbus Regional Healthcare while being treated for a recent illness. Born Aug. 6, 1943, he was the youngest child and son of the late Clyde Blackmon and Mary Love Blackmon.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Peggy Carr Yoder Blackmon; and his daughter, Susan Carr Moss Deans (John).
Tim was an active member of the local business community, where he operated several retail businesses until his health rendered him unable to do so. He was very civic minded and was elected in November 2005 to the Whiteville City council and served four terms.
Tim was a member of Grace Episcopal Church including the Lutherans of Christ the King. He was a compassionate human being who exemplified God’s love in the generous and forgiving way that he treated others.
He was a loving, and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday Oct. 23 at Grace Episcopal Church, 105 S. Madison St.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at the church with the Rev. Lowe Davis officiating.
He is survived by three children, Lois Lynne Blackmon Inman (Brien), Kenneth Ray Moss (Angela) and Kurt Robert Moss; eight grandchildren whom he adored, Drake Deans (Haley), Jonathan Cox (Ashleigh), Timothy Deans, Ethan Inman, Ashlyn Cox, Davis Inman, Aundria Moss and Meredith Moss; two brothers, Richard S. Blackmon and William James Blackmon; and many loving family members and countless friends.
