The Wolfpack Tops Southwest Onslow in First Round Playoff Action
All five Waccamaw Conference teams that advanced to the NCHSAA football playoffs won their first-round match ups Friday night, including the Whiteville Wolfpack. The #3 ranked Wolfpack came away with a hard fought 13-3 victory over #30 Southwest Onslow Stallions.
The Stallions fumbled the opening kickoff and Whiteville recovered, three plays later JT Todd scored from three yards out giving the Pack an early 6-0 lead with 10:56 remaining in the first quarter. The point after missed. The Stallions Oliver Reyes connected on a 26 yard FG with 3:25 left in the first half cutting the Wolfpack lead to 6-3. Whiteville tacked on the games final points with 9:20 left to play after Todd broke several tackles and found the endzone from 41 yards out. Grayson Creech added the extra point making the final score 13-3. Todd was named the KOOL 103.9 FM Player of the Game.
Whiteville improves its record to 10–1. SW Onslow ends the season with a 2–8 record. The Wolfpack will host #14 Edenton Holmes (8–3) Friday night in the 2nd round.
