More Charges Filed in Land Fraud Case

Another man has been arrested for a land fraud scheme involving property in Abbottsburg.

Shane Charleston Todd was charged with conspiracy to commit forgery of deeds/wills, and conspiracy to commit obtaining property by false pretense. Todd was arrested Monday on the two felony charges and received a $20,000 unsecured bond.

The Bladen Sheriff’s Office reported that in September, board members of the Abbottsburg Precinct Community Property Inc. discovered that a piece of their property had been fraudulently deeded to another individual.

Kevin Heath Todd was arrested in October for falsely representing himself as treasurer for the organization, and selling the property.

Shane Todd is a reserve officer with the Bladenboro Police Department. He also previously operated the state DHHS BAT-Mobile, a specially equipped motor home with blood alcohol testing stations and a mobile magistrate’s office.
