Martha (McPherson) Cartrette

January 3, 1934 ~ October 17, 2022 (age 88)

Martha McPherson Cartrette, age 88 of the Beaverdam community in Chadbourn, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, October 17, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Martha was born on January 3, 1934, to the late Willie and Lillie Mae Duncan McPherson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Coy Cartrette; son, Mickey Cartrette; siblings, Annie Kelly, Ace McPherson, Frazier McPherson, Zettie Linwood McPherson, and Paul Dale McPherson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City. Pastor Buddy Seay and Pastor Gary Ledbetter will officiate.

The family will greet friends from 1:00-1:45, prior to the service on Thursday, at the church.

Martha was a member of Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to many.

Survivors include her children: Sudie M. Walker of Evergreen, Deborah Hyatt of Delco, Michael Cartrette and wife, Lorri, of Chadbourn; grandchildren, Victor Walker, Elizabeth Barsh, Paige Cartrette; great-grandchildren, Peyton Henderson, Justin Walker, Mahala Barsh, Logan Barsh, Skylar Walker, and Cassidy Barsh; her brother, W.K. McPherson of Whiteville.
