Martha Jane Honeycutt

July 29, 1945 ~ October 20, 2022 (age 77)

Martha Jane Greene Gibson Honeycutt passed away on October 20, 2022 after a lengthy illness. She was born July 29, 1945 in Galax, VA the fifth child of seven born to Roger and Alma Greene.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Carlton Honeycutt and her sons, Ronald David Gibson (Diane), Reginald Van Honeycutt (Nina), Gregory Alan Honeycutt (Kelly) and daughters, Regina Anne H. Jackson and Sherrie Dale H. Campbell. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Jo G. Thomas (Audry), her brothers, John E. Greene (Carol), Robert E. Greene (Barbara), sister-in-law, Patricia D. Greene, brother-in-law, Ben Richard Honeycutt (Edith). Aunt Janie, as she was known, will be missed by her numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Martha Jane graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, NC. She retired from Allstate Insurance in Charlotte, NC. She was a faithful member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church when living in Charlotte.

After retiring she moved to Pireway, NC and became a member and was involved in Olyphic Baptist Church where she considered her church, her family. Martha Jane served God and mankind in her role as a teacher and caregiver. She was an encourger, a Barnabas, loving others. She was blessed in her special calling as G0d always had a place for her to serve. God gave her eyes to see and a heart to feel when love needed to be shared. Her sister remembers being told that as a young child she called Martha Jane "Janie Heart" and indeed she was.

A memorial service will be held at Olyphic Baptist Church 19062 Seven Creeks Hwy. on Nov. 11, 2022 at 11:00 am. A visitation will be at 10:00 am prior to the service.
