Marie Musselwhite Massengill, age 93, passed peacefully on November 9, 2022, at her daughter Sue (Jim) Oldenburg’s home in Denver, NC. Marie was born in Elizabethtown, NC on December 27, 1928. She is preceded in death by her husband, Theron Massengill; her three sons, Harold, Rudolph and Sidney Wilson; daughters Diane Wilson, Earline Wilson Sanderson, and son-in-law James Earl Sanderson. Marie is survived by her daughter Sue Wilson Oldenburg (Jim), daughters-in-law Constance Wilson (Harold) and Carolyn Wilson Stout (Rudolph). Marie is further survived by six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Marie was a successful hair stylist and small business owner for over 30 years in Lumberton and Elizabethtown, NC. Marie retired to Surf City where she attended Surf City Baptist Church. Marie was an avid reader, quilter, and gardener, but also loved to share her passion for fishing as well as cooking for her family.
The family will receive friends from 10 -11:00 am on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, NC. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. The services will conclude in the Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Clarkton, NC.
