Man Reports Bomb Threat
Deputies were called to a home near Whiteville Wednesday after a bomb threat.
The call is thought to be related to rising tensions between supporters and opponents of sheriff candidates Jody Greene and Jason Soles.
Brandon Patrick called 911 after someone called him from a blocked telephone number just before 6 p.m. The caller threatened Patrick, then told him there was a bomb in his home, the sheriff’s report said.
Patrick and his family exited the home. Deputies searched the house but found no evidence of an explosive device.
Patrick and Kevin Harrelson, both supporters of Greene, were accused of assault and communicating threats Monday after the hearing to remove Greene as sheriff. Mickey Soles, a supporter of candidate Jason Soles, obtained misdemeanor summonses for both men after an encounter outside the courthouse, according to court documents. Whiteville Police took the complaint from Mickey Soles.
