Local Woman named to State Council For Women

Pamela Young-Jacobs has been named to the state Council For Women.

The Bolton native is a member-at-large. She is one of 20 members appointed by Gov. Roy Cooper. She is also assistant chief and chairwoman of the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe, and

Secretary for American Indian Women of the Proud Nations. Jacobs is executive director of the Small Business Center at Southeastern Community College.

In November, Young-Jacobs was named Innovative Director of the Year in the NC LEAD Program.

The Council of Women is part of the Administrative branch of state government, according to their website. The council advises the governor, principal state departments, and the legislature on education and employment of women in North Carolina. The council can also be sought for advice by the Secretary of Administration.
