Lindbergh Holden

Lindbergh Holden, age 94, Whiteville, NC, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born September 1, 1928 in Brunswick County to the late Richard Holden and Rushia Clemmons Holden.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Nellene Peterson Holden and several brothers and sisters.


He served his country near the end of World War II in the United States Army and then enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He worked for over 30 years as a technician with Carolina Telephone Company. Lindbergh was a member of the Lebanon Masonic Lodge 207, a member of the Columbus County Shriner's and the local chapter of the Sons of the Confederacy. He was very active in ham radio operation. Mr. Holden was a member at Whiteville United Methodist Church.


Left to cherish his memory are his daughter; Lynne H. Lindsay (Hunter) of Roswell, Ga, two sons; Glenn Alan Holden (Kathy) of Sunset Beach, NC and Charles Bartley Holden (Wendy) of Cerro Gordo, NC, grandchildren; Caroline Lindsay and Matt Holden, and several nieces and nephews.


A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 3:00 pm at Whiteville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-2:45 pm prior to the service.
