June Dian (Nobles) Farmer

Aug. 6, 1941 – Jan. 29, 2023 (age 81)


June Dian Nobles Farmer, 81 formerly of Columbus County, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at Lawndale Baptist Church, 3505 Lawndale Drive in Greensboro. The family will receive friends after the service.

June was born Aug. 6, 1941 in Columbus County, to the late Owen Nobles and his wife Ruby. In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Carol Huggins.

June is survived by her husband of 57 years, George Farmer; sister, Peggy Phillips; two sons, George Jr. (Tonya) and Owen Farmer (Brenda); “adopted daughter” Holly Davis James; and four grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth, Brooke MacKenzie, Christopher Nobles; and Kaylyn Brooke.

June was a devoted wife, loving and caring mother, sister and grandmother, and compassionate friend to many. She was a long-time member of Lawndale Baptist Church. She worked as a nurse at Wesley Long Community Hospital. She earned her nursing certificate from GTI & B.S. in Nursing from A&T State University. In her retirement, she enjoyed her grandchildren, flowers, gardening and her family tree farm. Annual family beach trips to Long Beach and Holden Beach were essential in making lasting memories and passed on traditions.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Lawndale Baptist Church and Baptist Children’s Homes, 204 Idol St., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.
