Joseph E. "Pete" Brown

Joseph E. “Pete” Brown, 86, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, at his home in Goldsboro. He was born July 26, 1936 in Columbus County, a son of the late Wilbur “Wib” Brown and Elmer Lee (Nance) Brown.

Pete, also known as Buddy by his friends and family, was retired from the United States Air Force after more than 20 years of dedicated service to his country.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Shelva “Irene” (Duncan) Brown of the home; two sons, Rev. Joseph “Joey” Brown (Donna) of Whiteville and Mike Brown (Betty) of Princeton; two brothers, Howard Brown of Evergreen and Edsel Brown (Mary) of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Candace Sumner (Jeffery) of Clarendon, Eric Brown (Ashley) of Virginia, Chris Brown of Goldsboro, and Candace Bunn of Goldsboro; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Debra McNair.

A graveside funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 15 in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends briefly following the service.
