Jerald Mayes, age 81 of Silver Spoon Road, Whiteville, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022, at his home.
Jerald was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Helen Mayes; brother, Teddy Mayes and parents-in-law, Chalmers and Josephine Rabon.
Jerald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Elizabeth Mayes; sons, Rabon Mayes and wife, Mona of Fort Mill, SC, and Craig Mayes and wife, Denise of Mooresville. He leaves behind three grandchildren: Victoria Casasola and husband, Sebastian, of Greensboro, Salem Mayes and friend, Max Anderson, of Tampa, Fl, and Grant Mayes of The Citadel, Charleston, SC; a sister, Sherry West and husband, Jimmy, of Charlotte.
Mr. Mayes was employed as a claims adjuster until his retirement. He was a member of Lennon’s Crossroads Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Fred Senter officiating.
The family will receive friends at their home.
