Janie Freeman Standifer

August 17, 1943 ~ October 23, 2022 (age 79)

Janie Freeman Standifer, 79, of Buckhead, NC passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family on October 23, 2022.

Janie was an avid gardener and quilter. Being a dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved her community. Janie was a follower of Christ and an active member of her church, New Hope Baptist.

She was born in Columbus County to the Late Roy Lee Freeman and Rosetta Freeman. She is preceded in death by her brother - Robert Lee Freeman, and 2 nephews - Stacey Lee Freeman and Jeremy Michael Freeman.

She is survived by her husband - Marvin Standifer of the home, a daughter - Jessica McKeithan (Kevin) of Buckhead and a son - Kelvin Standifer (Alice) of Whiteville, 8 grandchildren: Morgan, Bray, Milen, Brooke (Zach), Taylor, Hayden, Abby, and Daniel, 5 great-grandchildren: Asher, Weylyn, Daelynn, Ainsley, and Sareya, brothers: Julius Freeman (Gaynell) and Tommy Freeman (Wanda), and a sister-in-law, Tonya Freeman, plus a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The family is incredibly grateful to Amedisys Hospice for the care they provided.

Her funeral service will be at 3:00 pm Thursday, October 27, 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Howard Jacobs and Rev. Don Carter officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Peacock Funeral Home.
