Inaugural Veterans Parade
Whiteville has its Inaugural Veterans Celebration Parade Saturday morning in downtown Whiteville. WWII Veteran Weir Barnes was the Parade Marshall, and he was driven in a car by Columbus County Clerk of Court Jess Hill. They were both accompanied on the parade route by U.S. Rep David Rouzer.
Winning first place in the float competition was the POW MIA cage, second place was Terrie Goben in memory of Ken Goben and third place as the Waccamaw Siouan tribe.
The parade ended at the Lewis Smith Shopping Center parking lot, just off South Madison Street. A ceremony was held there honoring all veterans in attendance.
The video below is the complete parade from start to finish, and it features commentary from WTXY - KOOL 103.9FM Air Personality Darrell Jackson.
