Horry Chase Ends in Tabor City

Multiple charges are pending against a South Carolina woman who fled Horry County Police and eventually came to an unexpected stop in Tabor City Monday.

Lashira Bennett, 24, of Bennett Loop Rd., Loris, faces charges in both Tabor City and Horry county after the chase.

Major Russell Conway of the Tabor City Police said Horry County attempted a traffic stop on Bennett near Loris, and she fled up U.S. 701. Tabor City Police were notified as Bennett neared the border town.

On the U.S. 701 Bypass, Bennett allegedly struck a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Melinda Price, causing $800 in damage, and kept going. A southbound TCPD officer spotted Bennett’s 2014 Infiniti as she crossed a ditch and part of parking area before striking a pole and coming to rest near a convenience store.

Bennett exited the car as officers pulled in behind her, and was captured after a brief footchase. She was transported by ambulance to a South Carolina hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries.
