Emaciated Dogs Seized Near Whiteville

Six dogs, including one that couldn’t stand, were seized from a Whiteville-area home Thursday.

A deputy was requested to assist Animal Protective Services at 2519 Chadbourn Rd, Whiteville, according to the sheriff’s office.

Four dogs were located chained outside with no food or water, the report said, and one was so “emaciated it was unable to stand on its own.”

Deputies also found two other dogs on the property that were malnourished.

Both homes appeared to be abandoned, according to the report. All the animals were seized by Animal Protective Services. The investigation is continuing.
