CCSO: Man Lured Dog Into Road Before Killing It
The man who allegedly lured a dog into a roadway, then ran over the animal, faces a charge of felony animal cruelty.

Christian Walters, 23, of 9720 Peacock Road, was released on $1,500 secured bond, according to detention center records. He faces a single count of felony animal cruelty.
The sheriff’s office was called to 9476 Peacock Rd., Chadbourn just before 3 p.m. on Jan. 29, the report said.
Shianne Hovan and Savannah Castillo told the responding deputy that Walter had called and whistled to their pit bull dog until the dog went into the roadway.
He then intentionally struck the dog with his vehicle.
Walters was arrested Feb. 14 after an investigation by the sheriff’s office.
The dog was valued at $1,500.
