Breaking News: Greene Resigns Again
Sheriff Jody Greene appeared in Superior Court Wednesday morning for a hearing on whether he can remain in office, but he resigned from his position once again just a few minutes into proceedings.
District attorney Jon David filed a new removal petition less than 20 minutes after Greene took the oath of office last week. David’s petition for removal cites maladministration, civil rights violations, sexual harassment and corruption under Green’s administration.
County commissioners will now appoint a new interim sheriff. Chief Deputy Kevin Norris is meeting with Greene, District Attorney Jon David, Superior Court Judge Douglas Sasser and others right now.
Court officials asked to speak with any county commissioners in the building.
This is a developing story.
