Beekeeping Class Set
Time is running out to sign up for the Columbus County Beekeepers’ Association Bee School.
The spring class is set for Feb. 3-5, and covers all materials needed to become a N.C. Certified Beekeeper.
The beginner level class provides training in all aspects of beekeeping, and students are not required to take the state exam.
Cost is $50, which includes county and state membership fees. A field day will be held at a later date with an opportunity to experience hands on time with a beehive. The class will cover races of honey bees and terminology; anatomy, biology, and physiology of honeybees; types of hives, hive parts, and accessories; products, and more.
Students wiullalso get to learn how to build a smoker, frames and boxes, and other skills.
