Area Churches Set Christmas Events

As Christmas approaches, area churches are celebrating the reason for the season. Toy runs, movies, breakfast with Santa, and music will soften your heart and get you into the holiday spirit.
• Northwood Church will be hosting the Very Merry Christmas and More Tour 2022. National Christian recording artists Newsong with special guest Francesca Battistelli will be playing on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at Farmacy on Main in Whiteville, McArthur Supply in Chadbourn, or by going online at www.itickets.com. Northwood Church is located at 2672 James B. White Highway in Whiteville.
• Come and enjoy a night under the stars with hot cocoa and Santa as he tells The Bible Story at Pireway Original Freewill Baptist Church on Dec. 3. After the story, pull up a chair and a blanket for the viewing of the movie The Star. The fun starts at 6 p.m. The church can be found at 16213 Swamp Fox Highway East in Tabor City.
The First Baptist Church of Lake Waccamaw will be holding a winter coat drive on Saturday, Dec. 3, immediately after the Lake Waccamaw annual Christmas parade. The drive will be held in the white building located behind the facility, and each person must be present to receive a coat. The FBCLW is located at 300 Sam Potts Highway in Lake Waccamaw.
• Forest Lawn Missionary Baptist Church will present Journey Through Bethlehem on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 5-9 p.m. This guided live nativity will transport attendees back in time to the night that Jesus was born. FLMBC is located at 16025 James B. White Highway South in Tabor City.
• You can join Santa and friends for breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 9-11 a.m. at Cherry Grove Baptist Church. Crafts, photos with jolly ole Saint Nick, and the reading of The True Christmas Story will follow the meal. This event is by reservation only, so be sure to call 910.918.3095 to reserve your spot today. The cost is $15 per child and $10 per adult. The church 9833 Swamp Fox Highway West in Cerro Gordo.
New Life Church will present their Christmas drama on Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. The public is invited to come out to enjoy crafts from the Women's Ministry and some fellowship with the church. New Life is located at 107 Maultsby Street in Whiteville.
The Boys and Girls Home of N.C. will have hundreds of nativity scenes on display on Dec. 16-17 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Leamon Rogers Memorial Chapel. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served. The BGHNC is located at 400 Flemington Drive in Lake Waccamaw.
Western Prong Baptist Church will host the Sportsman's Banquet on Dec. 17. Registration is at 5 p.m., and the event will begin at 6 p.m. Guest speakers will include Roy Graham, Jimmy Sites, and Joe Hamilton. The evening will include door prizes, dinner, and more.
