Another Win for the Wolfpack

On Friday night at Legion Stadium, it was “Senior Night”, and the Whiteville Wolfpack were hitting on all cylinders as they defeated the South Columbus Stallions 56-0. This was the largest margin of victory by either team in the 31-year rivalry.
The Pack held a 42-0 halftime lead, forcing a mercy rule continuous running clock for the entire second half. The Stallions executed a great game plan to keep the ball out of the Wolfpack's hands, winning the time of possession stat, and running over twice as many offensive plays as Whiteville. But it wasn't enough. A stout Wolfpack defense and big gain offensive plays led to the lopsided victory for Whiteville.
Whiteville’s JT Todd scored his first of 3 TDs on the night with 7:58 left in the first quarter on a 3 yard run. Grayson Creech added his first of 8 extra points giving the Pack a 7-0 lead. Whiteville extended the lead to 14-0 when Todd found the endzone again from 1 yard away with 4:31 left in the first quarter.
On Souths first drive of the second quarter, Nikotis Gordon intercepted a Stallion pass and raced 78 yards for a pick 6. Creech's point after made the score 21-0 with 11:46 left in the half. Whiteville's next possession ended when Montrez Holland scampered in the endzone from 16 yards away with 9:37 remaining in the half extending the Wolfpack lead to 28-0. Todd scored his 3rd TD of the game with 7:23 left in the half on a 26-yard run. Whiteville extended the halftime lead to 42-0 with 3:46 left when Nappie Powell scored on a 21-yard run and Creech added the extra point.
The second half only saw two scores with the running clock and both teams getting substitute players in the game. With 10:05 left in the third quarter Keyshawn McCollum scored on a 10-yard run and senior Jaylen Readon scored from 2 yards out with 3:13 remaining in the contest making up the 56-0 win for the Wolfpack.

Creech was perfect on the night with extra point attempts. Senior Nikotis Gordon was named the KOOL 103.9 FM player of the game. Whiteville completes the regular season with a 9-1 record and will be seeded #3 in the East in the upcoming 2A playoffs. The Pack will play host to Southwest Onslow Friday night at Legion Stadium. Kickoff is at 7:30p.m.
