Annie Lee (Reeves) Worthington

Annie Lee Reeves Worthington, 89 of Matthews and formerly of Whiteville, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, at Matthews Health and Rehab.


Annie was born on July 20, 1933, to Charles B. Reeves and Tallulah Leigh Williams Reeves. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cyrus Eugene Worthington; her son Gregory E. Worthington; siblings, Nathan Reeves, Kellam Reeves, and Vernon Reeves; and step-siblings, Cecil Gore, JC Gore, Esther Moses, Verna Gore, Hazel Gore, Wayman Gore, Bill Gore, Brooks Gore, Deloris McCumbee, Ken Gore, and Wade Gore.


Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 31, 2023, at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. Howard James officiating.


Annie was a member of Whiteville United Methodist Church. She retired as a Teacher’s Assistant with the Whiteville City School System. For many years Annie wrote the "Ramblin With Ann" column in The News Reporter.


She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Janet W. Pecorella (Salvatore) of Matthews; daughter in law, Carolyn Ellis Worthington of Cerro Gordo; four grandchildren, Jared H. Worthington (Katie), Sal Pecorella (Karissa), Benjamin E. Worthington (Anna Grace) and Anna P. Renne (Anthony); four great-grandchildren, Camden Worthington, Camillo Pecorella, Vivian Worthington, and Anthony Renne; step-siblings, Paul Gore of Shallotte and Shelby Gore Linton of Thortown, In.; and sisters-in-law, Faye Gore and Jane Gore, both of Nakina.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
