Santee Edgar Register

May 28, 1933 ~ February 9, 2024 (age 90)

Mr. Santee Edgar Register, 90, of Whiteville NC peacefully entered his heavenly home surrounded by family on February 9, 2024. He was born in Columbus County on May 28,1933 to the late Teberan and Bertha Register.

Santee worked at Holtrachem in Riegelwood until his retirement in 1995 after 33 years of employment. He loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family, especially his great-grandsons. He was an avid gardener and eagerly shared his garden produce with family, friends and his community. He was a long-time member of Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Ella Mae Register and three sons, Donnie Register (Gerri) of Loris SC, Terry Register (Nancy), and Dean Register of the Crusoe community; Grandchildren, Ryan Register (Suzanne) of Kernersville NC, Christy Madden (Mike) of Shallotte NC, Katelyn Register of Wilmington NC; Great-grandchildren, Adam Register, Jackson Register, Evan Madden and Trent Madden; and sister Pearl Highsmith of New Bern NC.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Dorothy Rockwell. Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the J.K. Register Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
