Columbus County Youth Wins Karate Title

A  little girl from Columbus County took home a big title this weekend. Tabor City youth Grace Watts traveled to Orlando, Fla for the U.S. Open ISKA World Martial Arts Championships and came away victorious. Watts battled competitors from Canada and Germany to earn her black belt, and she placed first in the 15-17 division on the World stage.

The U.S. OPEN is recognized by the International Sport Karate Association as their world championship event. Since 1986, ISKA has set an unparalleled global standard for the sport. Competition teams travel from the four corners of the earth to participate, and to witness the word’s greatest displays of martial artistry once a year in Walt Disney World.
