Dogs Seized by HCPD; Fighting Alleged

Horry County Police executing a search warrant on another matter seized a large number of dogs Thursday.

Jamar Chestnut, 41, was arrested for 29 counts of “ill treatment of animals” and 36 counts of harboring animals for fighting, according to an HCPD press release. He was held under a secured bond.

Police went to the property in the Wampee community on an unrelated warrants, the release said. While there, they discovered the dogs.

The dogs were seized by Horry County Animal Services, and are being evaluated. None are available for adoption or visitation at this time.

The investigation is continuing.
