Two shootings were reported in Columbus County on Monday, but neither victim sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

Just after 1 p.m., a teenager reported that he was walking on a road in Cerro Gordo when he heard a shot and saw that he was injured. The 17-year-old was transported by private vehicle to Columbus Regional for treatment.

The youth did not see anyone shooting, the report said, and did not know exactly where he was when he was struck.

The second victim was brought to Columbus Regional around 8:40 p.m., according to the report. He told deputies that he accidentally shot himself in the hand and thigh while attending a party. The 18-year-old said he thought the party was in Brunswick County.
