Trunk or Treat Guide 2022

As spooky season approaches, many churches, businesses, and organizations are holding harvest celebrations and trunk or treats. Columbus, Brunswick, Bladen, and surrounding counties are invited to send your events to Columbus County News for publication. Send your emails to [email protected]. The Grissettown-Longwood Fire Department will be hosting the District 31 Haunted Trail every weekend through Oct. 31. The trail opens at 7 p.m., and admission is $15 per person. The station is located at 758 Longwood Road in Ocean Isle Beach. Listen to WTXY Kool 103.9 F.M. for your chance to win free passes.  

Butters Baptist Church will be having their fall festival on Friday Oct. 21 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Dinner will be served right away followed by a hayride, games, and a trunk or treat. The church is located at 1877 Berry Lewis Road in Bladenboro. 

Hickory Grove Baptist Church will celebrate the harvest on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 5-7:30 p.m. The organization will have bounce houses, hayrides, a women’s pie contest, a men’s chili cook-off, plenty of food, and lots of other fun activities. There will also be a trunk or treat for the little ones. HGBC can be found at 6414 Center Road in Bladenboro.  

Join Pleasant Plains Church on Sunday, Oct. 23, from 4-6 p.m. for their trunk or treat. There will be food, s’mores, a hayride, and so much more. PPC is located at 31 Pleasant Plains Church Road in Whiteville.  

Autumn Care of Shallotte will be having a trunk or treat for the little ones on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 5-7 p.m. All kids are welcome, and the residents and staff will be in costume to pass out candy. Autumn Care is located at 237 Mulberry Street in Shallotte.  

Whiteville’s Fun Factory and Crossroads Church will be partnering to host a trunk or treat on Friday, Oct. 28, starting at 6 p.m. There will be pizza, games set up outside, and the facility’s bouncy houses will be open for children to enjoy. The factory is located at 42 Hill Plaza in Whiteville.  

The town of Ocean Isle Beach and the Ocean Isle Beach Recreation Department will be partnering together to bring a fun filled fall celebration to the community on Friday, Oct. 28, from 5 – 6:30 p.m. or until the candy runs out. Town staff and residents will be around to pass out goodies. The event will be held at 11 East Second Street at the OIB park.  

The Farmacy on Main in downtown Whiteville will be having a Halloween costume party for adults 21 and over from 7-10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28. There will be prizes handed out for best couple’s costume and best individual costume. Gift certificates from local restaurants will be awarded. The business is located at 110 East Main Street.  

Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church’s trunk or treat will be on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 5-7 p.m. There will be food, games, fellowship and lots of candy. SHBC can be found 3111 Walter Todd Road in Clarendon.  

Peace Baptist Church of Whiteville will be having a fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 29, beginning at 6 p.m. There will be hotdogs, games, and a trunk or treat. If you would like to be a part of the trunk or treat to hand out candy, please call June Hewett at 910.770.1236. PBC is located at 653 Love Mill Rd.

Gapway Baptist Church will also be having their trunk or treat on Saturday, Oct. 29. The event will start at 6 p.m. GBC is located at 939 Gapway Church Road in Tabor City.  

Coleman’s Drive In will have their annual Spooktacular Halloween carnival on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 2-7 p.m. There will be games, s’mores, a cardboard castle, and a DJ spinning out tunes. There will be Trick or Treat Jenga and Halloween Bingo every 30 minutes. The restaurant is located at 101 Jernigan Street in Tabor City.  

Iron Hill Baptist Church will be holding a trunk or treat on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. There will be fun, food, and fellowship for folks of all ages. The church can be found at 22247 Peacock Road in Tabor City.  

Southeastern Community College and the H.E.A.R.T.S. Foundation will be partnering together to host a community trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the SCC campus. There will be live music, costume and trunk contests, food, games and more. SCC is located at 4564 Chadbourn Highway in Whiteville.  

The Town of Lake Waccamaw, the Boys and Girls Home of NC, and Columbus County Parks and Recreation will be joining together for the return of Safe Night for Kids on Monday, Oct. 31. This event is free for children of all ages to enjoy a worry-free night full of games and candy at the BGHNC’s arena from 6-8:30 p.m. The facility is located at the Exhibition Center on Bill Thompson Lane in Lake Waccamaw.   

Fair Bluff Baptist Church will be having a trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m. There will be hotdogs, popcorn, cotton candy, inflatable bouncy houses, and lots of candy. FBBC can be found at 1205 Main Street in Fair Bluff.  

The Whiteville Assembly of God will be presenting a trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, starting at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 110 East Wyche Street in Whiteville.  

Glory Tabernacle Church will be hosting a trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, from 6:30-8 p.m. Special parking will be available for those coming to stay and enjoy the night. GTC can is located at 4513 Pleasant Plains Church Road in Whiteville.  

The First Baptist Church of Lake Waccamaw will be having their 3rd annual trunk or treat on Monday, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m. in the enclosed parking lot for the safety of children and pedestrians. The church is located at 300 East Old Highway 74/76.
