Susan Carr Moss Deans, age 60, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, September 1, 2022, with her family by her side.  Susan was born on January 6, 1962 in New Hanover County to the late Peggy Carr Yoder Blackmon.

Susan worked as a special needs educator.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband; John Drake Deans of the home, two sons; John Drake Deans, Jr (Caroline Gendoes) of Concord, NC and Timothy Carr Deans of Holden Beach, NC, her father Timothy Clyde Blackmon of Whiteville, a sister Lois Lynn Blackmon Inman (Brien) of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, and two brothers; Kenneth Ray Moss (Angela) of Whiteville, NC and Kurt Robert Moss of Wilmington, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at 2:30 pm at Whiteville United Methodist Church with Rev. Terry Hunt and Priest Jim Papile officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Forest Baptist Church Cemetery, Chadbourn, NC.

The family request for any memorials to be made to the Susan Moss Deans Childcare Scholarship Fund.  SCC Foundation,  PO Box 151 Whiteville.
