Margie Ray Wright Blackmon, 82, of Whiteville, NC, passed away, Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center. She born on October 10, 1939,  in Columbus County to Greer Pinkey Wright and Maleria Griffin Wright. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Blackmon, sisters Geraldine Wright Love, Dorothy Wright Bright, Ann Wright Batten, brother; Buddy Paul Wright, nieces; Cathy Ann Batten and Angie McLean, nephew; James Smith.

Margie worked for National Spinning Company for 50 years. After retirement she dedicated herself to God’s work and her church by visiting the nursing homes, sick and shut-in’s, sending cards of encouragement and praying for others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Margie is survived and loved by nieces; Nicole Folly (Sean), Jennifer Wright, Ashley Wright, Laurie Batten, Kimberley B. Taylor (Craig), Joanie Ivey, and Wanda Jones, nephews; Billy Bright (Carol), John Paul Jones, Donnie Bright, and Roy Ivey Jr., and special friends, Mahala Sellers, Eunice H. Williams, Kimberly Shipman, Mildred Surles and her church family.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at McKenzie Mortuary and Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm at McKenzie Mortuary Chapel.

McKenzie Mortuary is serving the Blackmon Family.
