Lois Stone

Lois Reeves Stone, 83, surrounded by her loving family, left this earth and was received into heaven on Monday, September 19, 2022. She was born in Robeson County, NC on December 3, 1938 to the late Purdie & Viola Reeves.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Aileen Little, Christine Middaugh, and Anne Wilcox; and her brother, Earl Reeves.

Lois leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 65 years, Billy; 4 daughters: Susan Rowell of Monroe, NC, Sherry Sellers of Whiteville, NC, Kim Branch (Chris) of Lumberton, NC, and Gail Humbert of Little River, SC; one son, Ryan Stone of Lumberton, NC; 8 grandchildren: Jessica Wheaton (Tim), Christopher Rowell, Amber Funderburk (Mitch), Dustin Sellers, Hannah Watts (Brandon), Katelyn Stone, Madison Humbert, and Taylor Stone; 3 great-grandchildren: Sydney Wheaton, Kenlynn Funderburk, and Gatlin Funderburk; and a bonus son, Ivan Watts.

Lois was an active member at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lumberton, NC where she served in the Women’s Ministry, the adult choir, and was involved with the youth department where she taught Sunday School, Children’s Church, and VBS. Lois’s passions included sewing, crocheting, and making 12-layer chocolate cakes.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Healthkeeperz’s Hospice nurses: Destiny, Mikayla, Amber, Jessica, and Nedra for their love, care, and compassion they provided to Lois and her family. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Andrea Blackburn and Larissa Locklear Deese, NP for their continued love and devotion throughout Lois’s illness.

And to Lois’s caregiver, Pam Hans – a very special thank you for your unselfish love, wisdom, care, and compassion to her and her family during her extended illness.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 3:00 PM at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 812 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. Anthony Rich and Rev. Ron Murdock officiating. Burial will follow at New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.
