Whiteville Police recovered a stolen truck and trailer – and the alleged thief —  within minutes Tuesday (today).

Jimmy Allen Lowery was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, felony larceny, fleeing to elude arrest, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, a lane violations and failure to stop for blue light and siren. His bond was set at $21,100. Lowery’s address and age were not available.

In a press release, Lt. Andre Jackson said Whiteville Police were contacted after the truck and trailer were stolen from the parking lot at an area business at 1:04 p.m. At 1:09 p.m., a WPD officer spotted the truck traveling north on Madison Street. Lowery refused to stop, the release said. The vehicle finally stopped behind a church on Church street, at which point Lowery allegedly ran.

Another WPD officer captured Lowery a short distance away.

Lowery was also wanted in Pender County for speeding and driving without a license, and Robeson County for misdemeanor larceny and second degree trespassing.
