 Larry Waddell passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022 while at his residence in Riegelwood, NC. 

Larry James Waddell was born on October 5, 1948, to Fleta Bell Brooks (mother) and Wilbert Norris Waddell (father). He was raised in the town of Bolton, North Carolina. He was a graduate of Armour High School, Class of 1966, which is where he met his wife, Edith. 

Edith S. Waddell remembers seeing him for the first time in 9th grade and thinking, “What a MAN!” How right she was. Over 52 years of marriage, they had three children – Tiphane, Larry, and Britany, who share the joy of memories in the home he built in Riegelwood, North Carolina. 

Larry was a Vietnam-era veteran of the United States Army. After his military service, he worked at Federal/International Paper, where he retired after 45 years. 

In his downtime, he was fond of all things outdoors. He was a marksman, an avid hunter, and enjoyed fishing.

Larry was preceded in death by his brothers Anthony Brooks, Gregory Waddell, and Rufus Waddell.

He is survived by his wife, Edith S. Waddell; Daughters, Tiphane F. Waddell and Britany J. Waddell; Son, Larry J. Waddell II (Wife, Tisha S. Waddell); Grandchildren, Naliyah, Mahya, RaVielle, Peyton, Aiden, and Aaron; Great-grandson, Alexander; Father, Wilbert Norris Waddell; Mother, Fleta Bell Brooks; Brothers, Ronnie Waddell and John Brooks; Sisters, Theresa Waddell, Cynthia Waddell, Adriane Waddell, Erica Harris, Denise Waddell, Julia Murphy, Queen Graham, Sandra Brooks, Janice Montgomery, Barbara Robinson, Patricia Brooks. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
