Henry Oliver Holmes, Jr., 70, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022, at his home. He was born March 1, 1952, in Horry County, the son of the late Henry Oliver Holmes and Mary Gertrude (Stevens) Holmes.

Henry was a lifetime member of Loris Masonic Lodge #205 and worked for Winn Dixie for 33 ½ years as the meat market manager. He was a long-time member of Dogwood Hill Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, on the baptismal committee, and the social committee.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy (Soles) Holmes of the home; one son, Wendell Oliver (Kathy) Holmes of Bolivia, NC; one daughter, Kerri Letitia Holmes of Tabor City; and two grandchildren, Kenzie Letitia Gaskins and Jody Bruce Gaskins.

He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Patricia H. Thompson and Virginia H. Harrelson.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 17 in Dogwood Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Jimmy Floyd and Rev. Mack Hutson officiating. Burial, with Masonic Rites, will follow in Twin City Memorial Gardens in Loris. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday in Inman Ward Funeral Home in Tabor City.
