Boil Advisory Issued for Northern Columbus

Water coming out of the faucet

County water customers in part of District III are being advised to boil their water due a line break.

Contractors bored through a line that services homes on U.S. 701 between Bill Hooks Road and Peacock Road, and on Peacock between N.C. 131 and U.S. 701, according to a press release from the county.

There will likely be discoloration and pressure problems while the flow is reversed and repairs are completed.

All water used for human consumption should be boiled for at least one minute to eliminate any possible contaminants.

Customers that experience problems with discolored water will need to contact the afterhours telephone number, 910.770.2158. The system should be repaired and the advisory lifted within 24 hours.
