Youth Sports Camps Set


Young athletes have a number of opportunities to hone their skills and get ready for the coming seasons over the next month.

• West Columbus Youth Sports will host four youth sports camps in August. 

Youth football camp will be August 1-3. Cheerleaders will also be holding camp the same week.

Girls basketball camp is August eighth through tenth. West Columbus will also hold its first ever girls softball camp at West Columbus Aug. 17 – 19.

• Whiteville Parks and Rec football camp is July 25-26 at Legion Stadium.  Cost is $40 for ages 6-14. Instruction and drills will be led by Whiteville High coaching staff, current players and WHS Alum and East Carolina football player Ty Moss. Joining Moss will be fellow Pirates Suirad Ware, Ryan Stubblefield, D’Anta Johnson and Elijah Morris.

Whiteville Parks and Recreation is also holding registration for fall youth football until Aug. 12. The program is for child ages 7-12 years old, and fees are $38.50 for city residents and $48.50 for non-city residents.
