Lake Waccamaw’s third annual Cruise for the Cause golf cart parade honored all five branches of the military this year. Mike and Charlotte Hollingsworth, known for the Flags on Flemington in the area, led the patriotic participants down Columbia Avenue, past Premier Living and Rehab Center, and onto Lake Shore Drive where they turned at Dale’s Seafood to travel along Canal Cove Road. The route ended at One Stop Convenience Store where a live band was waiting on the lawn.

The third place winner for the best decorated golf cart was Diane Edmonds with the Alligator. Second place went to the Harrington’s with the Airplane. The winner of the contest was Chuck Nance with the Boat. Nance was also last year’s winner, and once again, he donated his $100 prize back to the Cruise for the Cause.

The event raised over $1,500 in t-shirts sales and had 47 golf carts join in on the fun. Each cart paid $5 to cruise.
