Boston Butt Sale Will Benefit Missions Team

The Columbus Baptist Association’s Nicaragua Missions Team will be hosting a Boston butt sale to raise money for the organization’s upcoming trip. For the past 10 years, the team has partnered with On Eagles Wings Ministry in Leon, Nicaragua.

Oscar Correa and his team currently serve over 12,000 children, their families, and their pastors in over 96 villages around Nicaragua. Correa’s ministry provides food for feeding centers free of charge to the pastors. These religious leaders take it back to their villages and feed the children at least one hot meal each day.

The CBA sends a team to the country at least once a year for the purpose of medical missions, Vacation Bible School, construction assistance, and other opportunities. In addition to the mission teams, CBA has also developed a sponsorship program.

The organization asks folks here in the United States to sponsor one of the children from the Chinandega Dump. This location is where the Nicaraguan government placed some 300 villagers after a hurricane in 1998 with the promise of returning after they rebuilt their village. It’s a city dump, and where these families and their children still remain. The people there scavenge to build huts to live in and for items to sell and survive.

The fully cooked Boston butts will be $25 each, and the pickup day will be Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Columbus Baptist Association office located at 208 South Thompson Street in Whiteville. To purchase one or more, call 910.642.2155. Donations are also appreciated.
