3/31/22 Daily Sports Wrap Up 

NFL: Bruce Arians steps down as the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (record in Tampa:31-18), he will remain in the front office. Todd Bowles moves from defensive coordinator to Head Coach. Tampa Bay gave Todd Bowles a 5-year deal.  

NCAA Men’s Basketball: Fresh off his team’s Cinderella run in the NCAA Tournament, Saint Peters College head coach Kareem Halloway accepts the Head Coaching position at Seton Hall University. Halloway is an Alumni and former assistant coach for Seton Hall. It is a reported 6-year deal. 

Final Four: #2 Villanova versus #1 Kansas at 5:09pm; #2 Duke faces #8 North Carolina 8:49pm. Both games are on Saturday and the NCAA Championship game will be Monday, April 4 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  

The Basketball Classic: Coastal Carolina facing Fresno State tonight at 7pm 

Womens NCAA Tournament: South Carolina will face Louisville. Stanford will take on Connecticut. It is the Huskies 14th straight Final Four appearance. The Final Four games will be played Friday, April 1 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Coverage will be on ESPN. 

NHL Yesterday: Jets take down the Sabres 3-2 in a shootout 

Rangers defeat the Red Wings 5-4 in overtime 

Kings fall to the Oilers 4-3 in a shootout 

Kraken got shutout the Golden Knights 3-0 

Sharks lost to the Coyotes 5-2 

Blues beat the Canucks 4-3 

Tonight: Hurricanes host the Canadiens at 7pm 

Devils and Bruins 7pm 

Panthers hosting the Blackhawks 7pm 

Blue Jackets versus the Islanders 7pm 

Jets take on the Maple Leafs 7pm 

Penguins and Wild 8pm

NBA Last Night: Knicks lost to the Hornets 125-114. Miles Bridges scores 31 points and LaMelo Ball finishes with 20 points and 15 assists for the Hornets. Charlotte is in Philadelphia on Saturday. Tip-off is at 12:30pm. 

Mavericks and Cavaliers 120-112. Luka Doncic finished the game with 35 points, 9 rebounds and 13 assists for the Mavericks.

Nuggets versus the Pacers 125-118. Nikola Jokic had 37 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists for the Nuggets.

NASCAR Cup Series: Next stop on the NASCAR Cup Series is the Toyota Owners 400 at the Richmond Raceway Sunday, April 3 at 3:30pm on FOX. 

NASCAR Xfinity Series: Toyota Care 250 is Saturday, April 2 at 1:30 pm at Richmond Raceway. Coverage is on FS1 and MRN. 

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series: Thursday April 7, flag drops 8pm at the Martinsville Speedway. FS1 and MRN will have your coverage. 

Local Sports: Dixie Youth Baseball registrations are going on right now through April 1, for ages 13-14 at the Whiteville Parks and recreation building. You must bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate when registering. The price is 15 dollars for city residents and 25 dollars for county residents. 

Varsity Boys Baseball: Whiteville travels into the Swamp to take on East Columbus tomorrow. The first pitch is scheduled for 7pm and the pre-game coverage starts at 6:45 on Kool-FM. You can hear the away game updates on Kool 103.9-FM radio and streaming at www.Kool1039Radio.com
