3/8/22 Daily Sports Wrap Up 

NBA:  Hornets are back in action as they host the Nets tonight at the Spectrum Center. Tip-off is 7pm 

Last Night:  Hawks falls to the Pistons 113-110 in overtime 

Bulls lost to the 76ers 121-106. James Harden finished with 16 points and 24 assists and Joel Embiid ended the game with 43 points and 14 rebounds. 

Heat beat the Rockets 123-106. Victor Oladipo was back in action for the first time since April 2021 and scored 11 points in his time restricted 15 minutes for the game. 

Trail Blazers got devoured by the Timberwolves 124-81 

The Mavericks beat the Jazz 111-103. Luka Doncic ended the game with 35 points and 16 rebounds. 

The Lakers lost to the Spurs 117-110. LeBron James did not play. 

Warriors cannot handle the Nuggets 131-124. Nikola Jokic gets another triple double with 32 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists for Denver. 

Knicks take down the Kings 131-115

The Warriors hosts the Clippers at 10pm TNT 

NHL:  Hurricanes host the Avalanche on Thursday at 7pm in the PNC Arena 

Yesterday:  Kings beat Bruins 3-2 

Panthers over the Sabres 6-1 

Maple Leafs defeat the Blue Jackets 5-4 

Islanders defeat the Avalanche 5-4 

Oilers get burned by Flames 3-1 

Tonight: Devils host the Avalanche 7pm 

Panthers and Penguins 7pm 

Golden Knights versus the Flyers 7pm 

Coyotes at the Red Wings 7:30pm 

Kraken and Maple Leafs 7:30pm 

Jets host the Lightning 8pm

MLB:  The league and the players approved a 14 second pitch clock, larger bases and banned the infield shift for the upcoming season. No deal has been made to resolve the work stoppage dispute between the two sides. More games have been cancelled and even more are expected. The players are ready and waiting for this to be resolved. Most of them can return to activities as soon as the strike is over. 

NCAA Men’s Basketball: 

ACC Accolades:  Alondes Williams of Wake Forest was named the ACC Player of the Year, Armando Bacot of North Carolina came in second for the award. Pablo Banchero of Duke won the Rookie of the Year Award in the ACC. Coach of the Year went to Steve Forbes of Wake Forest. North Carolina State’s Dereon Seabron was the ACC’s Most improved Player. 

Yesterday:  Charleston lost to North Carolina-Wilmington 60-57 

Today:  North Carolina State at Clemson 4pm ACC Network 

Delaware versus North Carolina-Wilmington 7pm CBS Sports Network 

Selection Sunday is this week at 6pm on CBS, with the first games starting Tuesday March 15. The NCAA Championship game will be April 4 in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

NASCAR Cup Series: 

Next up for the Cup Series is the Ruoff Mortgage 500 at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale. The engines are scheduled to start at 3:30pm with TV coverage on FOX. 

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is back at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 19 at 2:30pm 

NASCAR Xfinity Series continues March 12 in Phoenix 4:30pm on FS1 and MRN
