Suspect had more drugs hidden in underwear at jail, CCSO says.

Two stolen guns, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana were confiscated after a traffic stop involving a Leland woman Monday.

Taleesha Angel Bryant, 22, was held under $47,000 secured bond on charges of possession of marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine, meth and marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, possession of drugs in a jail, two counts of possessing a stolen firearm and concealing a gun. She was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Deputies operating  a checkpoint at Hallsboro Road North and Whitehall Road noticed the smell of marijuana coming from Bryant’s vehicle, according to a release by the sheriff’s office. A teenager in the vehicle bolted when the vehicle was being searched, but was quickly returned to custody.

In addition to crystal methamphetamine and cocaine, deputies four scales, a marijuana grinder, and packaging materials, along with two concealed handguns in the car.

Bryant was taken into custody, and while she was being processed, a Detention Officer noticed a package of marijuana that fell “from Bryant’s person” when she was using the toilet. Jail personnel found another package of pot in her underwear.

The handguns had been entered into the criminal database as being stolen, one from Chadbourn and the second in Pender County.
