The BB&T/Truist Lighthouse Project organization members presented Angela Norris with the 2021 Spirit Award and a check for $5,000 for the park.

Members of the BB&T/Truist Lighthouse Project organization presented Angela Norris, Treasurer of the Veterans Memorial Park, with the 2021 Spirit Award and a check for $5,000 Tuesday morning. The money was a surprise to Norris, and members of Lighthouse said they had to keep a secret from her for a month.

The donation will go toward the Freedom Circle installation at the park. The Veteran’s Memorial Park will be hosting a “Spring Forward for Vets” event on Saturday, Mar. 26 at 6 p.m. at the Clarkton Entertainment Center. The price is $100 per ticket, and each ticket includes two meals, a 10-gun raffle, and entertainment by the Black Water Band. Call Norris at 910.840.3848 for more information.
