Closings and Delays

Brunswick Electric: Call or text outages to 800.682.5309.

The county is not opening shelters, since the anticipated power outages would shut down heating systems, and the difficulty in maintaining COVID-19 protocols.

Whiteville City Schools will be closed Friday. It will be a remote workday for staff.

Columbus County Schools will move to virtual instruction for staff and students on Friday. Teachers will be available via email on Friday by going to the CCS website. Students should complete assignments as early as possible because of the potential for power outages.  

Columbus County offices will be closed Friday.
County trash pickup will not take place Friday and Saturday.
All Parks and Recreation activities are cancelled for Saturday.

At Columbus Regional, staffing will be reduced and some departments will be closed Friday. 

Both the Whiteville and Leland offices of Advanced Imaging, Orthopedics, Urology, and primary care will be closed. Advanced Pediatrics will be closed along with CRHS Rehabilitation and the Donayre Cancer Center.

At the hospital, imaging, outpatient surgical, and the wound healing center will be on reduced staff.

The Animal Services Center will be closed to the public Friday. The shelter will reopen Monday.

Parks and Recreation Basketball is canceled on Saturday at Chadbourn Elementary, Nakina Middle, Tabor City Middle and Williams Township. 

The Town of Lake Waccamaw offices will be closed on Friday. To report power outages, call 800.769.3766. To report water and sewer issues, call 910.840.6189.

The Town of Chadbourn will close the town hall Friday.

Court is cancelled for Friday. Notices of new dates will be mailed to defendants’ last known address. The clerk’s office will also be closed.

Whiteville Parks and Recreation Center will be closed Friday. Open Play is also canceled at the recreation center. City of Whiteville offices will be closed Friday. Check the City’s website and Face Book page for updates. You can also sign up for Alert Whiteville (found  on the City’s home page, https://whitevillenc.gov/)  for up to the minute updates.

Families First offices in Bladen and Columbus will be closed Friday. Families Values and Families Values Two will also be closed as well and will not reopen until Monday. If you have an emergency, please call 911.
