A Whiteville man died Monday after he was partially ejected in a single vehicle crash near Brunswick.

Highway Patrol Sgt. B. Ezzell said Claudio Salvador Saballos, 41, was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred around 9 p.m. Saballos was traveling north on N.C. 905 near N.C. 130 when he drove off the right shoulder, overcorrected, and crossed the center line to the left shoulder. His 2002 Ford Ranger truck crashed and overturned in a ditch.

Saballos was the only occupant of the vehicle, according to a report by Trooper M.E. Gore of the Highway Patrol. Saballos was pronounced dead on the scene. Brunswick firefighters responded.

The fatality was the 15th on county roads this year. The last fatality occurred in August, when a Riegelwood man died in a head-on collision with a logging truck near Sandyfield.
